Getting Here

Rickwood House Hotel is in Portpatrick, near Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland. We make delightful stop-over accommodation for the Cairnryan to Belfast ferry (Loch Ryan Port). We are also ideally placed for visiting the Mull of Galloway.

From the North take the A77 (Stranraer) from Glasgow.
From the South take the A75 (Stranraer) from Dumfries.

Approaching Portpatrick on A77 from Stranraer or Cairnryan, fork right at War Memorial into Heugh Road.

After approximately 1/2 mile turn right at the crossroads up Golf Course Road. The entry to Rickwood is first on the left on the road to Portpatrick Golf Club.

By Train

There is a regular train service from Glasgow or Ayr to Stranraer. We are happy, wherever possible to collect guests arriving by train from the station at Stranraer (Portpatrick is about 7 miles from Stranraer) Should we be unable to collect you, there is a bus service to Portpatrick.

Ferry Travel

We make a delightful stop-over accommodation for the Loch Ryan Port – Belfast and the Cairnryan – Larne ferries. You can find ferry times and information at the following websites:

Regular ferry service between Loch Ryan Port (Cairnryan near Stranraer) and Belfast.

P&O Ferries
P&O Ferries sail from Cairnryan port, which is located in southwest Scotland, on Loch Ryan’s northern edge.
