There are golf courses in and around Portpatrick to suit every ability and taste. From a hilly cliff top course at Portpatrick Dunskey to level coastal parkland at Wigtownshire County, Glenluce. Maybe a nine hole at Portpatrick, Dinvin or perhaps the interesting St Medan course where there are 18 tees but only 9 greens! The closest to Rickwood is Portpatrick Golf Club itself just a few minutes walk from our gate.

Portpatrick Golf Course and Stranraer Golf Courses are listed in Scotland’s top 100 courses. St, Medan Golf Course is the most southerly golf course in Scotland.
Further afield, Turnberry Golf Course,one of Scotland’s top golf courses is only about an hours drive away. Troon is also within the scope of a day trip.
Rickwood House in Portpatrick is ideally situated for a tour of these six golf courses.

Putting and Pitch & Put
Portpatrick has a lovely putting green down by the harbour which is ideal for all the family.
There is also a pitch & put course run by the Portpatrick Hotel at the top of the steps from the harbour.

Almost on our doorstep. Dunskey Golf Course is an 18 hole par 70 golf course on which the 16th is named Rickwood after our Guest House!
The views from many of the tees and greens are outstanding as the golf course is on the cliff top.The vista includes the Mull of Galloway and Northern Ireland. Lagganmore Golf Course
Lagganmore Golf Course is only 2 miles from Portpatrick on the Stranraer Road. Lagganmore provides a good course at a reasonable price. The course has excellent views from many tees and greens. This is a pay & play golf course – no need to book and no dress code.
As well as a golf course, Lagganmore also has a driving range. Catering and changing facilities also available.
Wigtownshire County Golf Club
Wigtownshire County is on Luce Bay near Glenluce, about 12 miles from Portpatrick. It is one of the most popular holiday golf courses in South West Scotland.
This is another 18 hole, par 70, true golf links course which, with its subtly sloping greens and changing sea breezes provides a test of golfers of all abilities. An added attraction of this course is that it is fairly level throughout.

Stranraer Golf Club
Stranraer Golf Course is about 7 miles from Portpatrick. It was the last golf course designed by John Braid. Stranraer Golf Course is also on the top 100 golf courses in Scotland list.
This 6308 yard parkland course in Stranraer is set on gently undulating ground. It affords exceptional views over Loch Ryan to Ailsa Craig, the Isle of Arran and beyond.

Newton Stewart Golf Club
This is also an 18 hole parkland course, 5840 yards, par 69 with spectacular views from every hole.
Newton Stewart Golf Course is about 35 minutes away from Portpatrick.
St Medan Golf Course
St Medan, Scotland’s most southerly golf course is a family-friendly 9 hole course laid out on the shores of Luce Bay. A special feature of St Medan Golf Course is that there are 18 tees playing to 9 greens, This makes optimum use of the hilly peninsula with its wonderful scenery and sea views. The course is next to Monreith Bay and a lovely bronze statue of an otter in commemoration of the author, Gavin Maxwell is situated near the entrance to the club.
The golf course is about 40 minutes away from Portpatrick on the way to Whithorn.
