StrEatery 82 Sandhead

Brand new for 2015 beside the extensive sands of Luce Bay near Sandhead is StrEatery 82 one of the newest places to eat near Portpatrick.

StrEatery 82 is owned and run by Ben and Kati who originate from France and Germany respectively and who are former guests of Rickwood House Hotel in Portpatrick.

Last year, they served their excellent food from a small retro caravan near Port William,

This year StrEatery 82 has set up more permanent premises from a renovated portable building furnished with old school desks. The building is among the sand dunes of Luce Bay and is within the Sands of Luce Holiday Park.

Maggie and our daughter, Aly visited StrEatery last week on a rare afternoon off and were absolutely delighted with their visit. The food served is amazing! The emphasis is on local produce with all meat being sourced from Dumfries & Galloway including pork from Clash Farm pedigree saddlebacks at Clash Farm, Port Logan. Breads are sourced form the newly opened Logan Bakehouse in Ardwell, also in the Rhins of Galloway. Cheese from Cream o Galloway and other regional sources, locally caught fish..the list goes on.

Although traditional local produce is used, the fare on offer has a continental twist with falafels, tacos and frittatas joining burger and hot dogs on the menu which is changed on a regular basis. In their own words, they do a bit of everything.

We will certainly recommending StrEatery to guests on holiday at Rickwood House – its only a short distance from Portpatrick.

5 July 2015 – update……Maggie enjoyed her meal so much last time, she went back to StrEatery this afternoon to get some lunch – Lambada (breast of lamb, harissa humus, parsley-garlic-yoghurt sauce, arabic pickles in a mini baguette plus a Classic Cheese Burger (Highland Beef, Gouda Cheese, vine tomato, little gem lettuce, red onion, ketchup, brioche bun)  Yum! Took it all back to Portpatrick where we enjoyed the feast at our picnic table in the garden of Rickwood, our wee hotel by Portpatrick Golf Club.

Sandhead is about 8 miles from Portpatrick and takes about 15 minutes by car.
